“There are three needs of the griever: To find the words for the loss, to say the words aloud and to know that the words have been heard.”

Easy, comfortable, confidential time of sharing, processing, caring, talking, understanding. We are here to help.

Grief Support

In our grief we may often feel sad, alone, misunderstood, isolated, bewildered, angry and guilty. Coping with tasks of daily living can feel overwhelming and exhausting. We may feel abnormal or crazy. We may be reluctant to burden our family or friends with the story of our loss. Although these feelings are all part of the normal grieving process, many of our friends do not understand when we feel this way.

Merritt Hospice volunteers are available to support you through this difficult journey, with one-to-one support for a short period of time or through our ‘Living With Loss’ support group.

Living with loss support group

Living With Loss is a confidential grief support group led by trained volunteers. A small group of people who are grieving meet weekly and with the guidance of the facilitator help and support each other through the journey. The facilitator will offer information, education, and insights into loss and bereavement and will provide support.
